Ted Milton liebt man oder hasst man, ich habe ihn damals gehasst, aber da war ich wohl noch nicht reif genug für seinen No Wave-Sound und sein schreckliches Saxophon. Der ehemalige Puppenspieler griff Anfang der 80er zum Blasinstrument und produzierte fortan einen schrägen Jazz-Funk versetzt mit Dub, Punk und Voodoo-Rhthmen, und war damit wohl ein Art Wegbereiter für Bands wie PRIMUS - man muss sich nur mal das "South Park"-Thema anhören.
Eine sehr willkommene Compilation, zumal die Originalplatten wohl kaum noch aufzutreiben sein dürften. Nervig ist Milton zwar immer noch, aber dieser mitreißenden Dynamik und energiegeladenen Aggression kann man sich nur schwer entziehen. Und im Gegensatz zu den Kakophonien eines John Zorn gibt es bei BLURT noch richtige Songs.

Ted Milton, you love him or you hate him. I used to hate him, but at the time I wasn't ripe enough to appreciate his No-Wave sound and his terrible saxophone. The former puppeteer picked up the horn at the beginning of the eighties and set off to produce an akward jazz-funk mixed with dub, punk and voodoo rhythms, paving the way for band like Primus - just listen to "South Park Theme".
A very welcome compilation, not in the least because the original albums are hard to find.
Uneasy listening is still Milton's mark, but it's hard to ignore the dynamic and energetic agression. And contrary to the cacophony of a John Zorn Blurt offer at least real songs.
